The Land Down Under. The Sunburnt Country. The Great Southern Land. Or simply Oz.
Australia is affectionally called many things. And for every one of those names, this beautiful nation, the largest in the southern hemisphere, constantly unveils facets of itself that prove that this island continent is an endlessly intriguing, alluring and exciting destination.
Having been born and raised here for my entire life, there’s nothing I love more than travelling around my homeland. While I haven’t seen all, or even most of this exceedingly vast and breathtaking country, the places I do travel to, I don’t just do lightly. I love slow travel and exploring as many nooks and crannies of each region I visit as my conventional 2WD will allow me to appreciate each unique area.
This includes spending one week on Lady Musgrave Island, two weeks in Gympie, a month in Bundaberg and three months travelling throughout the eastern half of NSW, so I know from its storied Aboriginal, colonial and war history to the bustling cities and quaint country towns that came about because of it to the multitude of different ecosystems across its vast landscape, Australia is a country of unique contrasts that there really is something for everyone.
